HOW TO VIEW

To see the effect, we need a frame rate. There are two simple ways to achieve this:

  • Film it with your phone or camera

  • Shine a strobe light (or free strobe app)

    1. SPEED
      Play the record/slipmat at the speed specified for your design (33 or 45 RPM).

    2. FRAME RATE
      Set your phone to record at 30FPS.

    3. SHUTTER SPEED & LIGHT
      If the design is blurry, this will be because the shutter speed is too slow. Pretty much all phones in their default video mode will automatically adjust the shutter speed based on the amount of light. The more light, the faster the shutter speed. So filming in bright settings (daylight is king) will really sharpen the image.

    You can also try the below free apps. Within the app, set the shutter speed to about 1000 and then adjust the brightness accordingly.

    2. STROBE LIGHT
      Set your strobe light (or strobe app) to 30Hz and shine at the spinning record. Close curtains and turn off other lights for optimal results.
